Short synopsis | When Jesus came down to earth 2000 odd years ago, setting the stage for retailers’ biggest money making season, he and his dad thought it would have had a bit more of an impact. Sure, it was a bit naive, but having a buttload of faith in their fellow man sort of came with the job. There’s no two ways about it – Jesus had to come back to earth. Contrary to the title, there’s no Roman payback at the business end of a surface-to-air-missile and Jesus is not a loincloth-wearing, miracle-toting superhero who practices the ancient Judean martial arts. “Angry Jesus” is a show more in keeping with the prime time animation tradition of “The Simpsons, ” “South Park, ”, “Tripping the Rift” and “Family Guy”; a tradition rooted in character and laughs, while lampooning modern society and it’s social mores. The stories are ripped directly from the “The View’s” hot topics segment: health insurance, teachers sleeping with students, infidelity; you name it, our guy will take it on. Bottom line, he’s here to help. But things have changed a bit. First off, innocence is like a hundred dollar bill, or virginity: once you lose it, there’s really no way to get it back. During his first visit he wasn’t exactly invited in and offered a cool drink and he has the scars to prove it. Alas, Jesus has got something to prove. Dear old dad wasn’t exactly pleased with how things turned out. If Earth was Jesus’ science fair project he would have received a participation ribbon, and everybody who enters gets one of those. |
